Before And After Pics: What You MUST Look For When Choosing A Body-Contouring Specialist!

As a board-certified Nurse Practitioner, a cornerstone of my practice, whether I’m providing medical or aesthetic care, is and always has been my professional ethics. I provide informed consent to every client, explaining the benefits as well as potential risks associated with the proposed treatment plan. I strongly believe in the tools and techniques I use to help women look and feel their best, and I want every patient/client to feel hopeful and optimistic but also to start treatment with realistic expectations. In the body-sculpting sphere, the primary evidence that contributes to client expectations is the specialist’s “Before and After” photo gallery.

Since adding non-invasive body contouring to my practice, I’ve been really disheartened and disappointed by so many of my professional colleagues when it comes to the client photos they use in marketing. So often, the “Before” pic is zoomed in to enhance every ripple and bulge and to make the silhouette appear larger than life, but then the “After” photo is zoomed out, effectively creating the illusion of more significant shrinkage than would be evident in person. Another frequently-used and (I believe) dishonest tactic is to adjust the client’s clothing to expose more or less skin. An example that I see fairly consistently is the rolling down of the waistband to expose loose, sagging skin on the lower abdomen for the “Before” photo, and then rolling up the waistband to cover the lower abdominal skin for the “After” pic. I don’t know about you, but I want to see a direct comparison showing ALL of the tissue being treated!

In the interest of complete transparency and helping clients set realistic expectations for their results, I take Before and After photos in the same location using the same lighting, the same perspective, the same skin exposure with respect to clothing coverage, and I crop the pics to ensure as close to a perfect match as possible. If it’s difficult for me to determine whether the “Before” and “After” photos are identical in proportion, I’ll overlay the two and expand one or the other to ensure proportionality.

Look online at “Before and After” galleries on professional websites and note examples like those I shared above. Once you see them, you can’t unsee them. Then, check out my gallery. These photos demonstrate my very best effort at an honest, transparent representation of the results you can expect when I treat you. My clients are consistently, pleasantly surprised at what they see in the mirror immediately after treatment, and those results continue to develop and improve over the next 6-8 weeks. I always disclose up front the number of treatments that I believe will be needed to meet the client’s goals, and I provide information about what the client can realistically expect from treatment. If my approach resonates with you, give me a call at (406) 219-7874 to learn more about how I can help you meet your body goals. If you’re ready to book, you can do so on the “Non-Invasive Body Contouring” page linked in the top menu. I look forward to connecting with you!
